Cooperation for Success

Cooperation for success

Scientific collaborations on treatment centres in Germany and abroad as well as intensive cooperation with colleagues in all regions of Germany are the main features of the work of urology at the Clinic on the Ring and the West German Prostate Center.

The Westdeutsche Prostatazentrum is co-founder of the International Prostate Cancer Group (IPG).

Scientific exchange

In addition to the training of specialist colleagues, the Prostate Center regularly conducts national and international medical training courses and patient events. The team of the Westdeutsche Prostatazentrum strives for continuous further training and maintains close contacts with treatment centres in Germany and colleagues in Europe and the USA. For example, there is a close cooperation with Prof. Louis Potters from the New York Prostate Institute, who was also present at our annual prostate up-date meetings as a speaker. Further speakers of our annual events were among others:

Prof. Dr. Cosset, Director of the Marie Curie Institute, Paris
Prof. Dr. de la Rosette, Director of the University Clinic for Urology, Amsterdam
Prof. Dr. L. Potters, Director of Radiooncology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City
PD Dr. Bachmann, Director of the Urological University Hospital, Basel
Dr. Poppert, Guy? s & St. Thomas Hospital London
Prof. Dr. P. Hammerer, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Urology, Braunschweig
PD Dr. Herfarth, German Cancer Research Institute, Heidelberg
Prof. Dr. Schmitz-Dräger, Euromed Clinic, Fürth
PD Dr. Graefen, University Hospital Eppendorf, Hamburg
PD Dr. Böhmer, Charité - Humboldt University, Berlin
Prof. Dr. Heidenreich, Department of Uro-Oncology, University of Cologne

The medical team of the interdisciplinary Prostate Center at the Klinik am Ring treats numerous patients from all over Germany and abroad every year. In order to maintain contact and provide comprehensive aftercare after the therapy, there is an intensive exchange of information with colleagues in private practice near the patient's home.
In addition, the West German Prostate Center is increasingly treating patients who have their first residence abroad, mostly in the Balearic or Canary Islands, or who are seeking a "rehabilitation holiday" after treatment. In order to ensure the care of these patients, we also work closely with German urologists abroad.
Furthermore, all patient treatment and aftercare data are collected over a period of at least 5 years, documented in a database and checked and evaluated by our scientific advisor.
