Aching heavy legs?
- Do you suffer from tired, aching, or even fatigued muscles and heavy legs? - Are your legs often swollen? - Do you mainly work standing up? - Are you taking birth control medication or has anyone in your family had varicose or spider veins?
If you can answer two of these questions with YES, you could be suffering from this commonly occurring vascular disease. Up to 40% of all women and about 20% of all men suffer from it.
But what are the causes?
There can be many reasons,
for example, diseases of the muscles, joints, spine, nerves and, of course, the arteries, and veins. It is therefore crucial before taking any medications that promise a quick cure, to establish the cause. Only a selective treatment of what actually causes the pain, can promise a long-term recovery and protection from avoidable damage. Varicose veins can also cause discomfort since thy can increase the tendency for the swelling of the lower legs; they can cause painful inflammatiosn and often lead to skin discoloration. Varicose veins are usually visible and are often located in the areas of subcutaneous adipose tissue at back of the thighs. Treatment options depend on the size and location. Before any treatment can be planned, a detailed examination, for example with ultrasound, is necessary.
