New physicians strengthen the team at the West German Prostate Center
The West German Prostate Center (WPZ) is growing - in two senses. Just in time for the completion of the conversion and extension of another floor, the team of physicians under the direction of Dr. Stephan Neubauer and Dr. Pedram Derakhshani has received reinforcement: Priv.-Doz. Dr. Dr. Holger Gerullis and Kai P. Schuster support the interdisciplinary facility as additional specialists for urology with immediate effect. This will enable the WPZ and the Urology Department of the KLINIK am RING to even better meet the increasing number of their patients.
"We are very pleased to welcome Priv-Doz. Dr. Dr. Gerullis and Mr. Schuster to have gained two outstanding urologists for our team," says Dr. Neubauer. "With their experience and expertise, they complement our team perfectly and bring the best prerequisites to meet our high standards of quality patient care," says the Cologne urologist and prostate specialist.
Priv.-Doz. Gerullis previously worked for many years as a senior physician at the Urological University Hospital in Oldenburg and brings with him extensive knowledge in the treatment of all urological tumor entities. For more than 15 years, he has been involved in surgical techniques for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), among other things. In particular, in the field of gentle Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), Priv.-Doz. Gerullis is an internationally recognized expert with extensive experience and excellent know-how.
Kai Peter Schuster moved from the Leverkusen Clinic to the Urology Department of the KLINIK am RING. He has a broad spectrum of urological treatments at his disposal. His main focus is on minimally invasive therapy of prostate enlargement and bladder tumors. After further training at the University of Cambridge and many years of clinical and scientific experience, he is also considered an expert in MRI-based diagnosis and therapy of prostate carcinoma.
Pioneers of brachytherapy in Germany
The West German Prostate Center is one of the centers with the highest number of cases in Europe and specializes in the treatment of prostate diseases. The focus is on the treatment of prostate cancer and benign prostate enlargement with modern surgical and laser procedures as well as innovative techniques of modern radiation therapy. As pioneers of brachytherapy (internal radiation) in Germany, the interdisciplinary team of experts has performed a total of more than 8,500 treatments and has progress data of more than 20 years. The high level of specialization and many years of experience of the medical team, as well as the use of state-of-the-art medical technology, enable treatment quality at the highest level.
